My best holiday ever was 2 years ago. I went to a place
called Icalma near the border with Argentina in La Araucania region . I had
never been in a place so heavenly amazing
so it was definitely the best one to me.
I traveled with my girlfriend and her parents and brother by
car. The trip took around 20 hours but the time passed quickly while i was
sighseeing wonderful landscapes.
When we finally arrived to Icalma town we took a boat to get
to the other side of Icalma big lake. There was a campsite run by a mapuche-pewenche
family and we stayed there with our tents at the edge of the lakes for more than
a month.
After two weeks, the pewenche family that we had met invited
us to their annual ceremony called nguillatun and it was a privilege to us
because it is an earnest and hermetic feast
.
Days later we went to “piñonear” with them to the mountain
full of Araucarias so we trekking a lot while we were finding more “piñones” to
collect.
I remember that all the mornings we woke up with the kultrun
sound and the singing of the “machi” of the place, It was a magical experience.
I also remember that sometimes we swam in the gauzy lake at noons and then we did kayaking in the afternoons.
One day, in the evening, It started to rain and the lake was
really warm so my girlfriend and I decided to dive in to the lake and see what
would happen. It was so fun and adventurous that i will never forget that.
The landscape, the mapuche culture, the animals, the magic
and peace that i saw and lived in there was incomparable, i would definitely come
back everytime I could.

What a wonderfull experience! it seems like everybody should do the same.
ResponderEliminarWithout a doubt you were privileged to live surrounded by nature with people you love and indigenous near a month.
I really hope you can back there one day :)
Hello!
ResponderEliminarI love your history!!! Who says that we don´t have identity as Chileans? that beauty place must be in a documental and shared as our original culture.
Thanks to bring me the chance of hear something of Icalma.
